24-Hour Stream for Giving Day

Once again, in celebration of the program's upcoming Giving Day, the CSU esports Varsity teams and student workers hosted our annual 24-hour stream! Teams rallied together with keyboards and blankets in hand, playing games and alternating naptime to raise money and also to bring attention to the program’s upcoming Giving Day, where fans, friends and family members can make donations to our program. The teams were looking forward to this event for weeks, coming in ready to play games and having the best sleepover ever! We’re already planning for next year’s stream, and mark your calendars for Giving Day on February 26th! 💚🎮

Happy Valentine’s Day from CSU!

Love is in the air this February, and the Varsity teams are celebrating by giving the community personalized player Valentine’s Day cards! Thanks to the creative genius of the program’s Director of Communications, Lexi Pewitt, each Varsity player had their gamer tag cleverly plugged into a romantic verse, proudly displayed on Valentine’s Day cards. “I’ll love you till the end-(3r)”, “Will you be the Skrub McLady to my Skrub McLord?” These are only a few of our players’ cards, and you can find these clever lines displayed on the TVs right outside the esports lab! Much thanks to Scott Wade, Pj Farrell, Gabby Palmer, Lexi Pewitt, and Julien Medina for coming up with these enchanting puns. With so many cards to choose from, which will you give to your valentine? 💚🩷

New Tech West High School Visits CSU

Recently, CSU’s esports program had the pleasure of hosting New Tech West High School in the lab. The students were able to use the space as a way to train for their upcoming regional playoff game. Through this experience, they were able to work with our Varsity and Club players, one of them being Varsity player Cory Brotosky, a Chemistry education major who student-teaches at New Tech West! The high school students did extensive research during their time, and were able figure out the specific characters the other teams would be playing. They came in 2nd place in the region and have already requested to come back to get in shape for their State playoff appearance!

Our varsity teams aren't the only teams showing success! On January 28th, the CS2 club team played in their NECC placements, and despite going 1-2, were able to advance their way into Division 1 (including a win over PSU Blue). They started D1 by falling to Boston University in a close 2-0, but they bounced back with a 2-1 win over Seneca Polytech and a 2-0 win over Purdue Gold. The team is excited to see what else they are able to accomplish in this monumental season! 💚
