Lake High School Visits Cleveland State University
On September 23rd, the computer science students of Lake High School were given the opportunity to tour the Washkewicz School of Engineering. One of their stops was the CSU esports lab, where they were shown a presentation and given a tour of our facilities. The students were given direct information from the club director, PJ Farrell, Street Fighter Captain Isaiah Howard, Valorant Varsity player Nung Lian, Varsity League of Legends player Reid Lake, and Varsity Smash Ultimate player Will Strayer. 💚🎮

Ruben Lipins, "Reuvi," Smash Ultimate | Eric Weatherall, "wyyu," Valorant Varsity |

Meet Ruben Lipins, aka “Reuvi”. Ruben is CSU’s Smash Ultimate team’s favorite Snake player! He is a senior majoring in information systems at CSU, originally from Beachwood, Ohio. In his free time, Ruben enjoys playing video games and working out at the gym. To take down the NACE Manchester in Smash Ultimate, Ruben had to defeat Duck190, a multi-year MVP Diddy Kong player for Manchester GLEC. Ruben surmounted this challenge with ease, defeating Manchester 2-1. The final round was closed out with a definitive 3-stock, maintaining CSU’s perfect Smash Ultimate record in GLEC and NACE. We’d like to thank Ruben for all of the hard work he has put into the team. | Meet Eric Weatherall, aka “wyyu”. He is a business major in his sophomore year at CSU. Born in Hamilton, Canada, Weatherall is now a member of the Varsity Valorant team, playing duelist. Eric was named first team player at GLEC 2024 and continues to be a key part of the team. Some hobbies of his include working or hanging out with friends, and playing sports. Weatherall aims to either go pro in Valorant or become a lawyer. Recently, Eric played a crucial role in the team’s match against Old Dominion, getting a 4-person kill to win the series 2-0. With that, our Varsity Valorant team remains undefeated in both GLEC and NACE. We’d like to thank and support him for the role he’s played as a member of the team. |
New Player Spotlight
Vamsi Seegichetla, "CookieVKS," Valorant Academy
Meet Vamsi Seegichetla, aka “CookieVKS,” a member of our Smash Ultimate team. Seegichelta grew up in Brunswick, Ohio. He has graduated from Brunswick and Tri-C with honors, but his interest in art is self-taught. Seegichelta says that his passion for art developed immensely during the pandemic, and has helped him cope with the often isolating nature of online schooling. Now, he is a full-time student here at CSU, majoring in Graphic Design, and looking to add another major. Along with art, Seegichetla was a part of the marching band in high school and enjoys baking, crafting, clothing making, writing, and, of course, playing video games. We give a warm welcome to Seegichetla and hope that he has a great time as a new member of the team.
