NECC Division 1 Nationals
![]() | ![]() |
It seems like Texas is seeing plenty of Cleveland State Esports this 2025-2026 season! CSU recently sent not only one, but TWO of our amazing teams to the NECC Division 1 Nationals in Texas! Both our Varsity Rocket League team and our club Counter-Strike team were 1 of 8 teams in the whole nation to qualify for NECC playoffs for their respective games. In San Antonio, Texas, our Rocket League team reverse-swept Ole Miss, making it out of group stages and qualifying for bracket play; our team placed 5th in the nation! The Counter Strike team was causing their own chaos as well, making it out of groups and into the grand finals! Though unfortunately losing to Fisher College, they placed 2nd nationally; a historical and unforgettable moment for the esports program! Congratulations to both our Rocket League and Counter-Strike teams. We are so proud of you! đź’š

Fairview High School Visits CSU Esports

A group of eight students from Fairview High School visited CSU’s esports lab to receive a presentation from Director PJ Farrell about the management side of esports. The program is being run through the Ethlete facility in Lakewood, under the Greater Cleveland Partnership program. PJ taught them a lot about managing teams and what to look for when building a program. The students will be able to put these lessons into action by running tournaments and connecting to other esports organizations and programs through Ethlete. 🎮

CSU Esports hosts the Cleveland Council of Independent Schools’ Banquet
![]() | ![]() |
CSU’s Esports Lab hosted a banquet for the Cleveland Council of Independent Schools (CCIS) last week. CCIS consists of five esports programs that compete in Overwatch, Valorant, Rocket League, and Marvel Rivals. Players were given awards, catering, and the opportunity to unwind with some friendly matches in the lab. We are looking forward to future events where we will be able to help them volunteer within the community. 🎮

T3MP Competes in the Overwatch World Cup on Team Colombia
Not only are our players seen competing all over the country, but now we get to see them compete all over the world! Juan “T3mp” Sierra is playing on Team Colombia this year for the Overwatch World Cup! T3mp is the hitscan player for our Overwatch Varsity team, joining us in the spring of 2026 and sweeping the competition in the collegiate scene, including his win at the GLECC conference, which qualified his team for CECC in Texas! You may have also seen T3MP playing for both the Amplify and Extinction organizations this past year. With T3mp’s skill and game sense, Team Colombia made it out of group stages and have qualified to participate in the OWCC in South Korea! He will be heading to South Korea with his team on August 21-23 to compete for all the marbles. Make sure to save the date and watch the stream! Congratulations on all of your successes, Juan. Best of luck in the tournament. We are so excited to support you this August! Let’s go Colombia! 💚🎮
