CMSD Smash Ultimate Champions

CMSD Fortnite Champions

Last week, Cleveland State University proudly hosted the Cleveland Municipal School District (CMSD) High School Championships for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Fortnite. The exciting matches took place in CSU’s esports lab, providing a professional setting for these talented student competitors. The teams and players all exhibited an incredible display of skill, strategy, and sportsmanship. Events like this highlight the growing importance of esports in education and community building, and we’re thrilled to support the next generation of gaming champions! Great job, CMSD!

Showcasing Esports to Cleveland State's Athletic Program

Assistant Director of Esports, Adam Schuler teaches Esports Athletic Advisor, Kristina Artino how to play Valorant

Cleveland State University’s Esports program recently had the exciting opportunity to connect with CSU's athletic department to further their knowledge of CSU's Esports program. During the presentation, we highlighted the games we compete in, the skills our players develop, and the broader impact of esports. The real fun began when we invited some of the athletic faculty to try their hand at the games we play, sparking a lot of laughs and new appreciation for the competitive and strategic aspects of esports. It was a fantastic experience bridging the gap between traditional sports and esports, building connections, and fostering mutual respect for our unique disciplines.
