CSU’s Esports team is thrilled to be back for the semester and ready to bring you an awesome season! The players are excited to return, eager to hit the grind, and prepared to showcase their talent in each match they play. This season promises intense competition, plenty of new faces joining the roster, and many new opportunities to show their skills. You won’t want to miss what’s ahead, so stay tuned! 🎮💚 

CSU Smash Ultimate & Street Fighter Tournament at VikeFest

This past weekend, CSU hosted VikeFest, a welcome-back street party for Cleveland State University students. CSU’s Esports team ran a Smash Ultimate and Street Fighter 6 tournament in the Student Center. In addition, they also ran a table for the Esports Club team, and recruited over 20 players and student workers to help run the production and team this upcoming season. Special thanks to Junior Ramos, The Esports Club President, for organizing and helping out! 💚

CSU’s Esports Team Celebrates Their Return!

To celebrate their return, CSU’s Esports team kicked off the semester with a team get-together this past weekend! Players enjoyed many rounds of WhirlyBall and pool, all while getting to hang out and bond with their teammates. The event was the perfect mix of fun and team spirit, allowing new and returning players a chance to connect before the season begins. With memories already made and hype building, it was certainly a welcome back to remember! 💚🎮

College of Engineering Welcome Back

The Director of CSU Esports, PJ Farrell, recently spoke to incoming freshmen and transfer students pursuing engineering. With nearly 50% of CSU Esports players studying some form of engineering, the program continues to highlight the strong connection between academics and esports. PJ shared details about the program’s growth and the various possibilities available to students. In addition to introducing students to CSU's esports scene, this demonstrated how the program supports both competitive gaming and academic success. 💚

Riptide Smash Event Coming Up!

CSU’s Smash Ultimate team is headed to Riptide in Sandusky at Kalahari Resort on 9/5! With more than 1000 participants worldwide, Riptide will host a solos competition in addition to a collegiate crew battle. Good luck to our team as they take on some of the best Smash players worldwide and in the collegiate scene!

Kohen Yates, "Haz," Rocket League

Meet Kohen Yates, aka “Haz.” He is a freshman who will be playing on CSU’s Rocket League Academy team. Kohen is a computer engineering major from Cobourg, Ontario, Canada. In his free time, Kohen enjoys playing guitar and going to the gym. He also likes Hockey, Ice skating, Formula 1, and music. Additionally, Kohen has won 6 LANs and the Coca-Cola All-Stars tournament! We are so happy to welcome you to the team and are thrilled for the upcoming season! Good luck, Kohen! 💚🎮
