Livyzone Smash Charity Event

Graphic made by @RetroLazer_

Our Super Smash Bros. Ultimate team continues their dominating streak at the Livyzone tournament on Sunday, November 9th, with three CSU players placing in the top eight. In first place was Scott “Dr. Kirb” Wade on Falco, and runner-up was Cory “Arctic” Brotosky on Rob. Finally, Victor “Dreamless” Marcelo placed fourth, playing as Mii Brawler. In addition to having a fantastic graphic by @RetroLazer_ done for the event, Livyzone also raised a total of $310 dollars for the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter. We hope to have another awesome event like this soon! 🎮💚

Burning River Street Fighter Tournament

Also on the 9th, we hosted the Burning River Street Fighter 6 tournament. Burning River is a biweekly double-elimination tournament run by the SF6 team and coaches for the local community, not just CSU students. We have built up a consistent local player base that you can join with a small entry fee of $13, with an extra dollar needed to play in the side bracket. Make sure to catch the next one on the 23rd of this month. 🎮

CSU’s Overwatch Academy Team wins NACE Playoffs

Pictured left to right: Sagan W. (Winter), Gabby P. (ShamWow), Collin B. (Twocan), Jackson B. (Nebbyindabag), Cole P. (Alizu), and Maddux B. (Svexx). Not pictured: Gavin M. (crossnclover) and Lexi P. (doverra).

After an undefeated season in their NACE conference, CSU Overwatch Academy won the grand finals in a reverse sweep, 3-2! The game started out rough with losses in maps 1 and 2, making it clear that they would need to win map 3 in order to win the finals. Once the team walked into map 3, it was clear how much they wanted this win, absolutely dominating maps 3, 4, and 5 to secure their undefeated title for the NACE season! With a combination of team synergy, skill, and good vibes, our team was able to work as a powerful unit, walking straight towards their shared goal to bring home the trophy. We are so proud of our Academy team, and we’re looking forward to their next season (and seeing that trophy)! Congratulations, Overwatch Academy!💚

New Exterior TVs for CSU’s Esports Lab

As some of you may have already noticed, new tech inside the lab wasn’t the only upgrade that the ESports program received recently. Now we have tech OUTSIDE the lab, featuring a bunch of gorgeous flat screen TVs! We are so grateful for this upgrade, as now we can share our success and love of gaming with anyone who walks by. On these TVs, you will also notice a QR code that will take you to the hub of CSU ESports information, including info about our Discord server, team shop, our club sign-up form, and our linktree! Some of the displays include pictures of your ESports teams (and teammates!) and some stellar gameplay from our Varsity matches.💚
